2017 Fire Relief
Mary Jane Cope organized a November concert with pianist Lavinia Livingston, flutist Kathleen Purcell, and violinist Shannon Delaney D’Antonio to assist victims of the North Bay fires. The musicians created a program of introspective music designed to provide a cathartic experience for those affected by the fires. Entitled ‘Music for Healing’, the program included works by Bach, Brahms, Finzi, Janácek and others. Holy Cross Church provided the use of its beautiful sanctuary and piano as well as programs, flyers, and publicity. The Nov. 12 concert drew an appreciative audience and generated over $6000 in donations to the 2017 North Bay Fire Relief established by the RCU Community Fund in Santa Rosa.
Santa Cruz MTAC members (along with Bookmark Music) also collected donations of music, teaching supplies, and gift cards to distribute to teachers in Santa Rosa who lost their homes in the fires. These items were turned over to Gwen Churchill, state MTAC president, who attended the November 12 concert.
Your tax-deductible donations support scholarships and other special Branch activities. You may specify a favorite project, or let us choose the fund most in need. Make checks payable to SCCMTAC.
