January 21 @ 7:30 pm
New Music Works: Tammi Brown Sings from The Lost American JazzBook in a benefit concert at Kuumbwa Jazz Center.
TAXONOMY OF PLEASURE: the newest album from The Lost American JazzBook—featuring Tammi Brown, Dan Zemelman, and Mads Tolling—is the Winner of the “Jazz with Vocals Album of the Year” from the 18th Independent Music Awards.
Renowned and widely beloved gospel/jazz singer Tammi Brown brings an evening of spellbinding songs to Kuumbwa Jazz Center, accompanied by acclaimed pianist Dan Zemelman and Danish-American virtuoso violinist, Mads Tolling. Zemelman, along with composer Albert Greenberg, and Ms. Brown, are co-creators of the ever-expanding song world of The Lost American JazzBook.
Mads Tolling’s violin brings sweet radiance and weaving countermelodies to Tammi Browns and Dan Zemelman’s spontaneous explorations of The Lost American JazzBook. Tolling is a two-time Grammy winner and recipient of the 2016 Downbeat “Award for Rising Talent.”
The Lost American JazzBook is an amazingly adventurous collection of contemporary song arrangements, ranging from music by Thelonious Monk to Bob Dylan, Billy Strayhorn to Antonio Carlos Jobim.
